A team from Renmin University of China (RUC) visited the Xiamen Torch Academy on Jan 10 for in-depth discussions on innovation-driven small and medium-sized enterprises, especially high-tech, specialized and sophisticated companies that produce new and unique products.

The team was led by Sun Kaiwen, a professor at the RUC School of Economics and vice-president of the National Institute of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises at the university, and Li Peijie, deputy secretary of the CPC committee of the school.

Sun highlighted the efforts made by the RUC National Institute of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in supporting the advisory services of think tanks, corporate training and event holding.

The institute will further deepen cooperation with the Xiamen Torch Academy, gather governmental, enterprise and research strengths from all walks of life, strengthen the sharing of teaching, data and talent resources, and jointly promote the innovative development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Since its establishment on May 9, 2021, the Xiamen Torch Academy has forged close ties with RUC in such programs as training in strategic leadership for outstanding entrepreneurs and the cultivation of specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products. The two sides will continue practical cooperation in executive education, think tank research, building internship bases and introducing talents.

The RUC National Institute of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises was jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, RUC and the Postal Savings Bank of China in 2021.

On Oct 18, 2021, the Xiamen Torch Academy joined hands with the institute and launched the first class of the program cultivating specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products. It was aimed at improving the resilience and core competitiveness of such enterprises and seeded players in the Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone.
