At the invitation of the Xiamen Torch Academy, Ji Jie, vice-president of the Patent Protection Association of China, gave a thematic lecture titled "Protecting Intellectual Property Rights and Empowering Industrial Development" in the Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries on April 10.

The lecture brought together more than 120 high-level talents, local government officials, as well as representatives from companies and institutions providing IPR and relevant services in Xiamen.

Ji, also general manager of the Seven Stringed Lute National Platform or the HIPEX Platform Agency, a financial innovation trial founded and operated by Hengqin International Intellectual Property Trading Center Co Ltd, shared the content of IPR in the 20th CPC National Congress report, the decisive role played by sci-tech innovation and IP and the significance of acquiring an awareness of IPR protection, as well as corporate IPR management.

Ji noted that the essence of the awareness to protect IPR is to develop and enjoy their commercial value. He added that core competitiveness comes from the combination of innovation and IP in the era of the knowledge-driven economy, and called on enterprises to offer education and training courses on IPR protection.

Ji also gave suggestions on Xiamen’s innovative development and better protection of IPR in the Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone.
